The Appeal
The 1962 to 1966 Silver Cloud III was the last and perhaps the most illustrious of a long line of fully hand-built, body-on-chassis Rolls-Royce cars before the 'owner driver' era of the unitary body Silver-Shadow. Enthusiasts know that they are a clever buy, offering the traditional style and build of the earlier cars with the usability and drivability of the later ones.
This rather magnificent Sable-over-Sand 1965 car has had just three registered keepers in its 61 years. The previous keeper bought it in 1985 and covered just 4,500 miles before passing it to the seller in 2020. We're told that during these 35 years it was regularly serviced with repeated attention to the brakes and a new exhaust system. The history file is extensive and includes copies of the original factory records.
The car presents well in photos, with just a few cosmetic points to note to the paintwork and some light age to the lovely beige leather interior. We are told that the lower body was repainted in 2011 in the same color, while the leather received a light Connolly redress around seven years ago.
A very handsome and nicely presented example of these very usable classic Rolls.
