The Appeal
The MGC Roadster is the six-cylinder sibling of the beloved MGB, produced for just two model years and fitted with a 2,912cc straight-six that offered considerably more torque than its four-cylinder counterpart. Often criticized in period for its heavy front end, the MGC has since earned a devoted following among enthusiasts who appreciate its grand touring character and the potential of that big, smooth engine. As a more muscular car and an imagined successor to the 'Big Healeys', it's a tantalizing prospect. This particular example has been developed to address the model's well-known shortcomings and to make the most of its strengths.
Under the hood, a triple carburetor conversion sits atop a cylinder head ported by the renowned Peter Burgess, complemented by a lightened flywheel, Maniflow manifolds with Zircotec heat protection, and electronic ignition. MGOC hydraulic power steering has been fitted, along with Frontline four-pot brake calipers, Spax dampers all around, parabolic rear springs, an uprated anti-roll bar, and an MGOC ball joint upgrade to the front suspension.
The car comes with a history file including receipts, old MOT certificates, the manual and spare parts catalog, and copies of all previous log books. A generous haul of spares and original parts accompanies the sale, including the original manifolds, starter, alternator, tonneau cover, a spare carburetor, gasket sets, and wheel bearings.image.png2.09 MB
