Pre-bids

1974 Porsche 911 2.7 Targa

Highlights

  • Rare early-production, UK-supplied right-hand drive example
  • Matching numbers with Porsche Certificate of Authenticity
  • Large history file with MOTs tracing back to 1982
  • Recently refreshed including a windows-out repaint and extensive mechanical work

The Appeal

The 1974 model year ushered in the impact-bumper G-series 911, and the 2.7-litre Targa in right-hand drive is a genuinely scarce car today. VIN analysis places this example within the very first wave of RHD G-series Targas produced, part of a model with a global right-hand drive population estimated at fewer than 500, with surviving numbers believed to be in the low hundreds.
This particular car was UK-supplied from new and remains finished in its factory-specified Hellgelb (Light Yellow, code 117) over a black leatherette interior. It is a matching-numbers example, confirmed by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. It has been maintained by recognised Porsche specialists, and comes with a large history file including MOT certificates that trace the mileage back to 1982.
The car has benefited from significant investment over the years, including an engine rebuild, a brake system overhaul, and an interior refurbishment. Most recently, in June 2026, it received a windows-out repaint in its factory colour along with fresh ignition components, filters, and fluids. It is MOT-exempt as a historic vehicle, but holds a voluntary MOT valid until February 2027 with no advisories.
