The Appeal
With just 1,900 miles since completion, here is a chance to acquire the ‘gold standard’ of Lambrettas in virtually ‘as new’ condition. Finished in in tasteful GP Turquoise, this is a beautifully presented scooter with a AF Rayspeed TS1 225 engine, a specification that is no longer available to buy new.
This 1984 SIL-built GP200 was imported into the UK in 2008 and immediately subjected to a thorough rebuild to TS1 225 specification. Only the frame and panel work were retained; virtually everything else was replaced with MB Development components. The result is a scooter built for serious touring and spirited road riding, with an external hydraulic front disc brake, adjustable rear suspension, uprated front forks and a long-range 11-litre fuel tank. Finished in the original GP Turquoise (Lechler 8016), the scooter presents well throughout. Having passed between just two registered keepers — both members of the same scooter club — the history and provenance of this machine are well known and well documented.
The vendor says:
“The scooter is an excellent ride and the engine is a delight. I will miss its incredible acceleration. This is a rare opportunity to buy a genuinely well-built TS1 GP that has been restored with quality components and then used sparingly.”

The vendor says:
“It was in the first owner’s hands for 10 years. I acquired the scooter in 2018 from the original owner and a fellow member of my scooter club. So, I have known the scooter history from its restoration in 2008.
“This is not a standard restoration but a carefully built, highly usable touring and performance Lambretta with a comprehensive specification aimed at reliability, braking performance and long-distance riding. Only the frame and panel work were retained when the scooter underwent the rebuild in 2008. Virtually all other components were replaced with mainly MB Development parts during the build.
“The TS1 engine modification became the gold standard for tuned scooters from the original Terry Shepherd and AF Rayspeed collaboration in 1986 and is still highly regarded by Lambretta riders. It is not currently possible to buy a new TS1 tuning kit due to lack of supply from the Gilardoni Foundry in Italy. So, this is a rare opportunity to own a scooter with one of the most revered and reliable tuned engines ever produced for the Lambretta scooter.
“The scooter starts easily, runs beautifully and pulls strongly through the gears. The TS1 engine is paired perfectly with the Mikuni carburettor and JL3 exhaust, giving excellent performance while remaining very usable for regular road riding and touring.
“The paintwork is outstanding with a deep gloss finish, excellent panel fit and very clean chrome throughout. The seat, rubbers, badges and trim are all in excellent order and the scooter presents exceptionally well from every angle.
“The speedometer currently shows approximately 1,900 miles, which is the mileage covered since the rebuild in 2008.”
