Highlights
- Upgraded IMS bearing (2021); all-clear bore scope inspection certificate from 2022
- Desirable six-speed manual gearbox
- 11 service stamps in the book from main dealers and Porsche specialists
- Retro-fitted Sony touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
The Appeal
The first-generation 997 with the 3.6-litre flat-six and six-speed manual gearbox remains one of the most engaging ways to experience the 911. It strikes a compelling balance between analogue driving involvement and modern usability, and the manual transmission is increasingly sought after among enthusiasts.
This example comes with a reassuring history file and has had the model's two most common mechanical concerns addressed head-on: the IMS bearing was upgraded in 2021, while a bore scope inspection in 2022 returned an all-clear certificate. Both were carried out alongside clutch, rear main seal seal and coil pack changes.
The vendor states the car starts without issue every time, and pulls well on the open road. It has been dry-stored throughout current ownership and was used for a road trip to northern Italy via France and Switzerland, covering around 7,000 miles in total during this period. The specification includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM), cruise control, Alcantara headlining, electrically adjustable sports seats, a Bose sound system and SportDesign 19-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. A Design Tek stainless steel exhaust is the sole departure from factory standard. Offered with both original keys and an MOT valid until July 2026, this 997 presents well and appears ready to be enjoyed.

Thanks for the information and apologies about the invoice date. A few more queries if you don’t mind: On the May 2024 MOT failure it mentions about the front and rear disc being pitted or scored. Yet it doesn’t mention them again at the July 2024 pass. Have the discs/pads been changed? When was the last brake fluid change as not clear on any recent invoices/service history? Is the air conditioning working and cold? Can you clarify your mileage in the car please as the description is a little vague, stating ‘was used for a road trip to northern Italy via France and Switzerland, covering around 7,000 miles in total during this period’?. You acquired the car in January 2024. The July 2024 MOT mileage is 96,051. Then the 2025 MOT is 99,024, so 2,968 miles btw MOT’s. Then 2,228 miles btw June 2025 MOT to date. Total mileage July 24 to date is 5,208. Many thanks again

SellerGood point, I did actually replace these and I forgot about this. They were replaced around the same time as the suspension, new Brembo discs all round. The pads still have plenty of life in them so I have not replaced them. I bought these on Autodoc, so a hard copy of the invoice was not in the pack, but it is now and attached. The brake fluid has not been changed in my ownership, the last record was with Friends Green. The AC works fine, my road trip last year was during the summer. The mileage in my ownership was based on an estimate because I couldn’t remember exactly what it was when I bought it. That is probably a bit high, it probably should be closer to 6,300. I genuinely didn’t think to reference the MOTs!

A few questions if you don't mind On the invoice from Pie performance in November 2024 it states under advisories: Crack in windscreen drivers side front inner tie rod has minor movement exhaust box clamps corroding drivers side rear lower coffin arm inner bush starting to separate Have all these things been addressed? Also who fitted the new front shocks in May 2024 and has there been a wheel alignment done since? Thanks in advance

SellerHi, thanks for the interest First thing to point out that invoice was actually from 26/09/2022 - so this was before my ownership. I don't have any invoices to be able to give an unequivocal answer on all these points but: - The windscreen has definitely been replaced, it’s unmarked. - The exhaust box clamps have definitely been replaced, I can say that with certainty from looking at them (see photo). - On the rear coffin arm bush and the front tie rod, I've just given these an inspection and I can't see anything obvious, for what it's worth. All I can really say was they have not come up on any of my MOTs and were not raised ahead of the suspension and steering rack work I had done last year at William Hewitt. The front shocks and drop links were replaced by myself, hence why just the invoice for parts. Quite the job getting 20 year old drop links out of the hubs. It then went to William Hewitt to have the springs, top mounts and, yes, they also did the alignment - photo attached
