Enfield revived the Bullet name in 1948 for a sensational new 350 sports bike with swinging-arm rear suspension and, after the prototypes' debut in the Colmore Cup trial, the Bullet went on to achieve its first major success in the ISDT later in the year. Royal Enfield's success in post-war trials owed much to its being first in the field with swinging-arm suspension, but arguably more to the talents of works rider Johnny Brittain, ably aided by the likes of Jack Stocker, Stan Holmes, Don Evans and younger brother Pat.
RSL has an unknown early history before being registered with DVLA in August 1998, in 2009 Douglas Roberts bought her, selling her to our vendor, a keen trialist, in December 2014. The engine/ gearbox is a non competition unit with a non waterproof magneto, the single sided cast ally front hub appears to be a genuine Works item. It has a D shape 80 mph speedo in the lowered position, a rare Vokes air filter, a replica works petrol tank and a rubber saddle. The foot rests are positioned for green lane and road use.
Sold with the V5C and a dating certificate, buyers should check the machine for its originality.
