A 1954 Dellow Special JWK1 Mk II registration number MYG 457, green/ aluminium. Dellow Motors Ltd was founded by Ken Delingpole and Ron Lowe. Their vision was to create a two seat sports car for the enthusiast, capable of being an all rounder, for use on the road, trials, rallies and hill climbs. With approximately 300 models leaving the factory in Alvechurch, near Birmingham, they were very successful, winning numerous events, including the MCC Daily Express National Rally and Circuit of Ireland Rally, winning outright against more illustrious opposition. Notable works drivers including Tony Marsh, who went on to win no less than six RAC hill climb championships and Peter Collins, the F1 driver, who drove for HWM, BRM, Vanwall and finally Ferrari. This rugged Dellow Special we have the pleasure of offering for sale, comes direct from a deceased estate. It was purchased approximately three years ago and was used by the deceased to attend Dellow register meetings amongst other events. The original bodywork has British Racing Green wings and radiator cowl, with a raw aluminium finish to the tub. The interior is trimmed in green vinyl and has a fully stocked aluminium dashboard, Wooler remote gear change and wood rim steering wheel. Weather gear consists of a full double duck tonneau cover. The Dellow Special is powered by a 1172 cc Ford engine with period Aquaplane aluminium cylinder head and inlet manifold with twin SU carburettors. MYG 457 is a Mk II example, one of only 95 cars produced by the Dellow factory and will be offered for auction with a history file. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration
