Up for sale Is my 1949 KB-3 IH Metro Van.

This is the earlier style and much sought after Metro with the longer grill, small bumpers, small glass tail lights, and clean fenders.

I found this Metro a couple of years ago in Alabama and Imported it back to the UK, although there's a couple of Metro's in the UK this was/ is definitely one of the 1st and earlier if not earliest one.

This Metro van is complete and in great condition for it's age.

Exterior wise the body is in fantastic condition, it's obviously had a (rattle can) respray for protection that rubs off pretty well. Underneath appears to be a thick blue layer which looks like it was applied with a brush and underneath that one we find a lovely brown colour with a yellow belt line and big logo's on the side that reads 'highland cleaners 794 so. Cleveland Desoto 5524 "we keep the spots" '. I have started taking the grey and blue paint off on one side to reveal the original paint and logo's which would look amazing if all finished.
The only area that requires a little attention is the doorstep on the drivers side but it remains minimal. The frame looks to be all solid.
All the doors work although they may need a little TLC so they would slide a little better, the handle on the rear door is broken but it's there. The windows on the rear doors have been covered up.

Mechanically, the van arrived in non working condition, I have since cleaned up the starter motor, serviced the engine (replaced plugs, HT leads and Oil), Cleaned the carb, rebuild fuel pump, replaced the battery and had the original radiator restored. The van starts and runs although it's been about a year ago. I spent a lot of time and money getting it running and confident she would be a great runner.

Interior wise, this is a delivery truck so don't expect much luxury.. it's from the 40's!! However, everything is all there and original, the drivers seat is complete which is a pain if this is missing, it also has a dash fan and this van comes with a heater too!

The van has been sitting for just over a year and it doesn't look like I can finish it soon, I spent some time getting it running and it's not far off, the brakes would need an overhaul and I haven't managed looking into it but everything else has worked out well with this car and I don't expect a huge amount of issues - it's a very honest vehicle! I've fitted 2 new (great 2nd hand Goodyear G90's) tyres on the rear and there's 3 more that come with it.
This van also sports a super cool Bumper grill "Cow Catcher" which is a very rare feature that you can spot in some of the early postcards.

This is a superb early Metro example that wouldn't require too much to get on the road, I was going to build this into a campervan but obviously you can runs as is, restore, or build your badass foodtruck.

I have an extra seat base for this van that could be thrown in the deal if required (i. e. if you're building a campervan) if the price is right.

The van is located in Bedfordshire and can be viewed on Wednesday August 1st.

The van is sold with no warranty.

I have the title and Nova papers to register in the UK. I'm happy to assist with (international) shipping at buyers expense. I can also deliver within a reasonable distance at an agreed fee.
