A rare opportinity to buy an electronic becker mexico type 755 in car radio cassette player in very good condition, and perfect working order..
These units came in type 126 chassis mercedses such as the 380, 500, and 560 sel models and are excellent.
they can be easily installed in the said cars, but are also appropriate for fittng in cars such as porsche 911"s/ 928 or the early 7 series bmw although the purists out there may disagree!..
my unit came out of a 126 mercedes years ago-is in very good condition overall, and perfect working order..
The heads have been cleaned using (isopropyl alcohol) on cotton buds, the play head is in excellent condition and is very clean and dust free, the pinch rollers have been cleaned, the drive belts are all in good condition and dont need replacing, and all conections are present as well and other than a very slight scratch on either side (caused by the idiot in-car audio specialist who removed it without the use of becker removal keys)and a very rare test run to check its operation, this unit has not been used for over 15 years or so, so believe me its crisp!
The sound qaulity of these units are superb and the only real way i can accurately describe it is to say it"s like having a top range nakamichi or revox cassette deck but in your car..
the radio section works very well with no problems and has FM, MW and LW bands, while the tape section has a dolby noise reduction system, auto reverse, and chrome tape selector as well as separate bass+treble and the unit is 20+20 watts per channel..
These units are very rare nowadays and are hard to find unless you go to top specialists, and are better qaulity than the very good blaupunkts (blue spot) that also came as standard in mercedes of the 80"s and were very expensive back then-approximatly £1300. 00 or so maybe a tad more or less, and as such im not going to let it go for cheap so £150. 00 is my asking price for this unit which i think is very fair considering the absolute top qaulity of these radio cassettes which as stated before are vary rare, and hard to find so if you want the correct unit for your classic mercedes-porsche-or bmw then this is the unit is for you.
Purists and dedicated fans of qaulity of Classic in-car audio are most welcome..
I also have another becker electronic mexico 755 (non operational) which can be had for spares but you will have to negotiate with me for that, other than that my £135. 00 asking price for the working mexico is negotiable, but for sensible offers only for the " duesenberg " of radio cassettes!
