Description
BSA D1 Bantam with 250cc twin, British Anzani engine.
Surely unique, a one-off and certainly entertaining.
I have owned the Bike for over 2 years and have used it as often as possible. ( I have other bikes ).
During my ownership, I have replaced brake shoes, cleaned / replaced carb components and have had it MOTd twice. Otherwise I have chosen not to regenerate or to renovate it.
I was initially attracted by the bike’s uniqueness and particularly because of its rotary valve induction system within the crank.
The engine has a smooth delivery of power and is very pleasing in my opinion.
Being that the engine is married to a standard D1 Bantam frame, riding it commands respect but it is great fun and there is a good potential to develop this bike into something special or simply enjoy it as it is.
My information is that the this pairing originated in the mid to late 50s, when its original owner, who was a Bantam enthusiast and Racer, bought the engine brand new from the factory, with the intention of developing a race bike. The creation was fairly early on, consigned to the back of the garage for reasons unknown and until being purchased from the owner prior to myself, was apparently little used. It was also little used during this previous ownership. Considered opinions therefore, suggest that the engine has not been used much throughout its life, though I cannot verify this as I have had neither need nor inclination to strip the engine.
I am only selling due to changes in personal circumstances, which warrant a reduction to my motorcycle collection.
The V5C is in my name and bike has a non transferable registration number.
