Just arrived from long term ownership, and surely a gilt edged investment.

This is a ltd edition MK1 Mazda MX5 V Special, and it’s been with it’s last owner for 12 years. Infact, it has had only two previous owners since it was imported from Japan almost 19 years ago.

These MK1’s seem to be rocketing in value, and it seems to be increasingly difficult to acquire good, honest examples that haven’t fallen into the hands of the customisers. This particular car has clearly been a cherished example, with a large history file documenting the extensive service work untertaken over the years. The only real negatives we can see on the car are a slight blister on one rear arch, a sticking Ariel, and split seat bolsters.
Invoices show that the car has benefitted from a major service with all fluids, filters, plugs etc, within the last 1k miles. Timing belt was replaced around 3k miles ago.

The car is a delight to drive, and if you’re looking for a “civilised” classic, then these Mazda’s have to be a serious consideration. 114bhp in a lightweight roadster body, complete with power steering, five speed box, rear wheel drive, and luxuries like electric windows and air conditioning....... no wonder they’re as sought after as they are.

Hopefully the pictures give you a flavour of just how smart this car is. The factory colour is Neo green, but to you and i that’s British Racing Green ! Coupled with an immaculate factory spec tan hood, and tan leather interior, this is one striking roadster. Being the ltd edition V Special, the interior is also equipped with a quality sound system (with integral head rest speakers) and Nardi wood rimmedsteering wheel, handbrake, and gear lever. The upgraded alloy wheels are about the only diversion from standard, and although originals are inexpensively available, we think the current wheels look rather smart. Tyres are all matching and in excellent condition. Even the registration number is appropriate for a Japanese car !

The car starts, runs, and drives without fault, showing excellent oil pressure, MOT’d till June and is ready to go. Mileage is in Kilometers, and equates to approx 98k miles, and this is supported by the raft of MOT certificates and service invoices in the history folder. The folder also contains the original Japanese documentation and handbook, and a UK handbook.
