I acquired this old Westy somewhat by accident . It had been stood for many years unused . I've got her running nicely and fixed the brakes , exhaust , electrics etc . Now everything works as it should and she passed an MOT this week with no advisories . I'd love to keep her for the spring and summer but at 6'2" and too many KG's I don't really fit and my size 10's get at least 2 pedals at once !
Ran her for a few miles and feels nice and quick . I'm no Westy expert but as far as I can tell spec is ... Xflow 1600 with Twin Weber Carbs I guess around 130 BHP .(Weight on MOT brake rollers was 670 KG's).. was told it has a fast road cam but couldn't guarantee ( Sounds sweet though .. engine is mechanically silent) . Type 9 5 speed box . Ford front and rear brakes .. Large diameter drums on rear , Type 16 calipers on front ( I fitted new calipers/ pads ) Westfield branded Alloys with 5 new Toyo tyres . Reg is 1993 but nameplate indicates frame was 89. Its narrow ( very) and has cobra bucket seats with 3 point harness .
Fibre glass has a few crazes on hood and front arches , One ding on the nose cone but nothing too bad . Crack on windscreen but doesn't interfere with vision so no MOT issue
ABS , Airbags, power steering , ECU , traction control , ICE etc etc are entirely missing .. it does have a heater !
