Drives superb but needs some cosmetic TLC in a few places. Used only as a second car throughout my ownership and has been very reliable, I've been all over the country including a couple of track days at Brands Hatch and Goodwood. Has some great upgrades over a standard car to make it a perfect fast road or track car, but still very usable (I've used it for my 100 mile commute a few times).
No ABS, A/ C or airbags so it's about as light as a DC2 can be without stripping interior, this makes it a very quick and responsive car.
The engine is standard apart from a Tegiwa carbon intake (with bumper fed cold air feed) and a full stainless exhaust consisting of a Tegiwa 4-2-1 manifold and decat and Fujitsubo RM01A catback system. The ECU has been upgraded to a socketed ECU with a 8900rpm rev limit, although the original ECU is also supplied. It pulls really well all the way to the redline and has always started on the button, even after being left for months at a time. As expected with a B18 of this mileage, it does use a bit of oil when being driving hard on track, with a little bit of smoke occasionally on overun in Vtec.
The gearbox has an upgraded Kaaz LSD which really pulls the car around bends without being too aggressive for road driving. This is combined with a lightweight ACT flywheel and Exedy stage 1 clutch.
The front brakes which are a weak spot on 96 spec cars have been upgraded to larger versions from a Prelude, (discs are easily available and uses a standard UK DC2 brake pad, both have been replaced in the last 2000 miles so have lots of mileage left) and has braided hoses all round.
The suspension has been fully refreshed with BC coilovers, Skunk2 front and rear camber arms, Tegiwa rear toe arms and Hardrace ARB drop links. The rear trailing and control arms are polybushed, as is the gear linkage.
The interior has a Momo Prototipo steering wheel with quick release NRG boss and both Recaro seats are in good condition but with the usual wear on the drivers seat bolster. A couple of small trim pieces are missing and the interior light has been removed to make way for a Go Pro mount. Genuine Honda mats are in the front, and the carpet is in good condition all round. No radio will be supplied, but both a single DIN blank and a double DIN blank will come with the car. The ariel has also been removed by a previous owner.
The bodywork is acceptable for a car of this age, it does have a few marks around the car but this never bothered me as it was bought to be used on track. There are a few small rust scabs on the rear arches and a couple elsewhere. The rear arches appear to be original and haven't got any worse in the 2 years I've had the vehicle but will need attention in the future. The car was re-undersealed and the inner rear arches treated with Dinitrol by the previous owner so that appears to have helped (happy to remove the speaker covers to show the inside of the arches). I've had a bit of welding done in the OSF arch before MOT last year, and the previous owner had a couple of small areas replaced in the floorplan.
It has 2 keys (one original Honda and one spare) and has a Cobra alarm and immobiliser with 2 fobs (one requires coding to the car). V5 is present and in my name, and I have a folder full of history from myself and the last owner. Many parts have been replaced in recent years including the timing belt, water pump, engine mounts, distributor and driveshafts.
I'm very happy to take any potential buyers for a run out on some local B-roads, and happy to allow test drives with proof of insurance. Please do not make me offers without viewing the car, they will be ignored! Looking for a cash sale or a part exchange with cash my way for a Honda Accord Type R or BMW E36 328i only. Any other questions just ask and I'll be happy to answer.
