Excelsior Manxman Earls Court show bike, BRBR racer.
I have owned this bike for 10 years and have never got around to doing anything with it!
This bike was on the Excelsior stand at the 1937 Earls Court show late in the year as the preview of the 1938 models. This is a matching engine , frame and gearbox numbered bike and one of the few that remain as such.
The original racing gearbox endcover is with the bike as it hs been fitted with a kickstart endcover in the past for use on the road.
The Bikes engine number is BRBR101 which is the first of the BRBR bikes sold to the public. Excelsior started their numbering at 100 the first engine with 100 in each series was usualy a development job and did not always get sold to the public.
In the past the bike has been converted to swinging arm and a covered damper fitted to the girders.
The bike is shown in Paul Ingham's book "Excelsior The Racing years", the original test sheet is with the bike showing ir to be done to show finish plus also showing the correct engine, frame and gearbox numbers.
Tyrell Smith's note books show development work done on the engine when first built.
The bike will require going through as it has not run since the 1960s.
