The car is an MGBGT first registered in 1973 and was originally red (reg doc still has this). It is tax exempt and although it has a current MoT it is eligible for exemption. The car was purchased by Stuart Ray of Performance Motor Bodies, Bosham and a friend in 2015 as a project car for renovation as a ‘Sebring’ style works race car. They stripped the car and did a bare metal respray in Porsche gunmetal grey after fitting a GRP Sebring body kit (MGC bonnet, wife arches and front valence). The 1. 8 engine was fettled and increased slightly in power to 1. 9 and a fast road cam fitted. A kenlowe fan aids cooling and there is an electric fuel pump. Rear suspension has parabolic leaf springs, a complete V8 disc brake system was fitted at the front and drum brakes retained at the rear. The transmission is the standard 4 speed with overdrive on 3rd and 4th. A set of Minilite wheels were fitted along with larger tyres to compliment the wide arches of the Sebring look.
The interior was completely refurbished with new carpet kit and seats refurbished. A set of four point race harnesses secured to a cross brace complete the Sebring look.
The current owner purchased the car in January 2018 and has continued to improve the car maintaining the Sebring theme. He had a second set of Spax adjustable shocks fitted so they are all round now. In addition a heavy duty starter motor fitted and a new long life (5yr) battery, also new distributor and various other bits and pieces for suspension and steering to improve or correct faults. Other additions include the works style headlamp cowlings, leather bonnet strap and a Moto Lita steering wheel.
The car has been regularly serviced by a local MG specialist all bills are present along with a comprehensive file of previous work and MoTs. The most recent MoT was in February 2019 which identified some needed fixes which were carried out at the time this include a set of new front tyres. All documents supporting the work are supplied.
The car has been regularly used for MG Owner club events including the Cotswolds Caper one day rally and other classic car events throughout the Cotswolds. It’s now being sold to help fund the purchase of a Classic Alfa Romeo.
