Italian title
Frame n° 502862
Engine n° 502862
Produced between 1938 and 1941, the Zündapp KS 600 is very similar to its big sister, the K 800. With pressed steel frame and fork equipped with steering damper and secondary cardan shaft transmission, this machine shared the KS 800's architecture and provided direct competition for BMW. In fact, the KS 600 was closer to the BMW machines with its 597cc twin-engine. This engine developed some 20hp giving a top speed of over 100 km/ h and justifying the KS of its name (Kardan Sport). The primary transmission relied on the use of five duplex chains and a four-speed gearbox. It has a single British Amal carburettor, and the 15-litre fuel tank allows the bike to cover nearly 300 kilometres. Although the engine is less sophisticated than the 4-cylinder KS 800, it remains a highly sought-after machine particularly when presented in such lovely condition.
This superb KS 600 was acquired in 2002 by our collector, won over by the restoration it had had in Germany, and by its overall cosmetic condition. The bike was added to the ASI register in 2002 and road registered in Italy the same year, under its engine number. The frame number is present but difficult to read. Presented in black with red highlights, and a chrome tank, this Zündapp deserves the close attention of the most demanding collectors.
We are very proud to present this very moving collection. All the motorcycles reflect a man's passion for different brands and generations of two-wheelers. The ones that made him dream as a child in the 1940s and 1950s, as well as those he enjoyed riding, such as the BMWs and Guzzis. The original condition and low mileage of most of the motorcycles of the collection will certainly catch the attention of demanding collectors.
We inform buyers that the entire collection consists of motorcycles that were, for the most part, left unused for years in a private museum. They are therefore sold as they are and are to be restored and/ or recommissioned.
We advise all potential buyers to check the file of each motorcycle to obtain all information regarding the registration process in their countries.
Auction estimate: €20 000 / 25 000
