These retro Hymers are incredibly popular and well-regarded. They're so much more useable and well equipped than VW campers at a similar price point, but are also easy to own and drive on a standard car license. This particular Hymer also has the advantage of being the slightly shorter wheelbase version which is much easier to live with. Some of the longer wheelbase versions are more cumbersome.
To be honest, I feel more like an estate agent than a classic car dealer writing this blurb, but bear with me...
It's a Hymer B564, registered in1989, LHD on a Peugeot chassis. It has a 2. 5 diesel engine and is the uprated turbo diesel, rather than the standard slow ormaly aspirated engine, MOT to 4th October and approx. 109, 466 miles (176, 170km). Huge amount of paperwork and receipts, all instruction manuals for appliances etc. In decent, ready-to-enjoy condition. Two roof mounted solar panels topping up the batteries. At the rear is a ladder for access to the roof and a rack for 2 bikes. On the offside there is a wind-out canopy over the habitation door. Entering this door, on the left is the kitchen area consisting of a 2 ring hob, sink with fridge-freezer and cupboards under. To the rear right is the washroom with hand basin, shower cubicle and Thetford cassette toilet. On the left is the wardrobe with Trumatic warm air heater below. You then come to the lounge-dining area - to the right is the dining area with seating and table for 4 people. The table drops down to form 2 single beds or a large double bed. There are top cupboards around this area for storage. Moving forward and entering the cab area, directly above there is a drop down double bed which is one of the best-loved features of these classic Hymers. Both driver and passenger seats are rotating captains chairs. The habitation windows are fitted with fly and blackout screens. There is a new leisure battery plus a recently fitted new main engine battery.
This motor home drives and handles well (for a 90s Hymer) and I have covered well over 100 miles in it with no dramas. Starts easily and runs very nicely. The turbo diesel versions are far more desirable as the non turbocharged engines are horribly slow in comparison. These turbo diesels will go up hills, cruise at a better speed and don't struggle. The turbo diesel versions normally command a significant premium over non turbo models.
The following list of features were fitted to this model:
Air suspension
New engine battery
New leisure battery
Solar panels on roof
Skylights
TV aerial
Gas Hob
Sink
Oven
3-way Fridge freezer
WC - Fitted with Thetford cassette toilet with wash hand basin and full size shower cubicle
Twin gas bottles
Hook-up cable
Large wind-out awning
A pair of folding camping chairs
MOT until 4th October with advisories only for non essential bulbs and slight oil leak
This remaining MOT is from the original test date of 4/ 10/ 19 last year, so does not yet include the automatic 6 month MOT extension, so I understand this MOT will be automatically extended to 3rd April 2021!
Ready for your next adventure!
As you can probably see from the pictures, this Hymer is in decent condition externally for its age. The interior is also in good condition, but with a little wear here and there.
Lots of paperwork, instruction manuals and handbooks:

Why so competitively priced I hear you ask?
This vehicle was taken in part exchange, when the current owner downsized. Unlike some of the other Hymers which are advertised at very optimistic prices, this one is here to be sold in a sensible timeframe. It's not perfect, but it looks to be in good condition for its age. There are other examples in very condition advertised for over £10k, so this represents a huge bargain. It is the cheapest turbo Hymer with long MOT anywhere in the country, so please be sensible about putting forward silly offers.
It was previously advertised for more, but I do understand everybody likes a bargain - this is already a bargain.
However, after being inundated with 'What's your best price?' and 'Will you take £500, a broken drumstick and half cheese sandwich in part exchange?' and loads of other nonsense, so I'll make the process simpler:
The price is now £5950. This price is fixed. No offers.
The first person to pay £5950 will be the next owner of the lovely Hymer.
Any 'best price' & 'last price' or daft offers will not receive a response.
If that doesn't work, I'll raise the price to £7500, and when somebody offers me a cheeky £6k, I'll take it... Ha ha ha ha.
It’s always difficult to express in words the condition of any vehicle, and most people have differing opinions, so the best way to get a true impression will be to view in person. It has quite a few marks here and there, quirks and character, so the best way to work out if it is the right vehicle for you, would be to come and have a look.
These are very entertaining vehicles, and immensely practical, it’s sure to put a smile on your face with every mile, or every weekend spent away. I can't quite put my finger on exactly why, but I'm a huge fan of this charming iconic classic camper van. Great for weekends away, trips to the beach, surfers, explorers - really just about any expedition or purpose you desire. It’s a great conversation starter, and being so far removed from all of the humdrum everyday campers on our roads, people can’t stop staring at it. They are a great alternative to the older VW campers which are mind-boggling expensive, exceptionally slow, and not nearly as well-equipped, or the transit van sized campers, which are often rather conservatively styled and can be rather dreary inside and out. I'd choose this magnificent Hymer camper every time..!
Insurance is easy to find, although it is not always competitive from the obvious 'mainstream' insurers. If you search via Quotezone or Google for motorhome insurance, you will find a number of specialist insurers who can normally offer cost effective cover.
Left hand drive is not much of an issue for UK driving, once you get used to it. Road positioning is easy, once you are up to speed. Only time you may need a handy stick is to push the button to enter a barrier controlled car park! If you fancy touring Europe, it's perfect for the ultimate road trip.
There is a large and vibrant Hymer club scene in the UK, with various shows and events throughout the year.
You are driving something a bit different, and interesting, compared to the normal humdrum campers.
You'll always be able to find it in a car park!
There is a huge amount of information, help and resources online for Hymers.
They tend to be relatively simple mechanically.
They have more character and charm, in my opinion, than so many other normal/ modern/ boring campers.
Due to the age and mileage, and also due to not being Hymer experts and having so many gadgets and gizmos aboard, it is not possible for us to to test or confirm operational condition of any of the equipment, therefore potential buyers are invited to view and test the vehicle themselves prior to purchase. Most things are fairly simple in these old motorhomes, but due to age we can make no guarantee of everlasting future operation, for obvious reasons.
If you would like to have it delivered we can put you in touch with local transport companies who can deliver this Hymer anywhere in the UK for you, at around £1. 50 per mile one way...
Terms and conditions of part exchange clearance vehicle sales:
This vehicle is advertised and sold as a 'part exchange to clear' with no warranty given or implied, and technically sold as for spares or repairs. These part exchange vehicles don't undergo the same inspection and/ or preparation for normal retail sale - so they are sold as untested at well below market value. It starts, runs, and stops as it should but we recommend all part exchange vehicles are checked by a competent mechanic prior to being driven on the road. Due to the age and mileage, it is not possible to offer any warranty via our third party warranty provider. All appliances are untested and the operational condition is unknown. Pre-owned vehicles can have defects, so you are encouraged to inspect thoroughly prior to purchase to ensure you are satisfied with the condition of the vehicle prior to purchase. Please allow for the fact that you may have to make future investment for repairs or renovation. Mileage on cars pre 2006 cannot always be verified.
