The stunning Jaguar E-Type was simply a revelation of beauty and performance when first unveiled at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show. The motoring press immediately recognized that everything in the sports car world was about to change. Brilliantly designed and offering unrivaled race-bred performance, the E-Type became an instant sensation. With its beautiful lines and surprisingly affordable price, the E-Type grew to iconic status where it still reigns, continuing to charm new generations of enthusiasts. But it wasn’t beauty alone. Jaguar’s racing experience delivered very progressive performance features to their surprisingly affordable car, including independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes all around (inboard at the rear to reduce unsprung weight), and Jaguar’s legendary twin-cam inline six-cylinder engine. Sales were brisk with continuous development growing in both American and European markets. Continuing sales would advance into the 1970s offering larger engines and different body developments, but steadfast admiration would remain as it does today for the Series 1 as one of the most beautiful and capable sports cars ever offered for road use.

According to the certificate provided by the Jaguar Heritage Trust this XKE was delivered new on April 3rd, 1966 to its first owner in Aurora, Colorado. It was delivered in Maroon, with a black interior and a black top. This car has remained in Colorado its entire life and therefore has remained very dry and rust free. This is a very original car, having never been totally apart and not been restored. Many of the original finishes are still in excellent condition as seen in photos. A high quality repaint on the exterior has been performed at some point in recent years. The most recent owner has had the vehicle in his possession for nearly 20 years and has taken excellent care of the vehicle. A folder with plenty of service records from recent years is included with the car. The Carburetors have recently received some servicing, and it is quite apparent when you push the starter button and the 4. 2l Inline six roars to life without hesitation. the 4 speed-synchronized gearbox operate beautifully and shifts into each gear without any fuss. The clutch operates smoothly and efficiently with nice, low pedal effort. While this car is not a fresh, perfect restoration, it is an absolute joy to drive. The engine, transmission, and chassis work together in pure harmony and create a wonderful experience behind the wheel.
