Description
This beautiful Midget is in the original specification of old english white with black hood and is an original RHD, Home Market car, with correct engine and chassis numbers, as per the BMHT Factory Record Certificate.
Built 13-16 August 1965 and despatched 18 August to Stewart & Ardern Ltd of Southend-on-Sea (and retains the original Southend number).
Fully restored by a Mr Eric Thompson of Norwich, he took the original engine to well known Oselli Engineering of Milton Keynes who rebuilt it to their "Fast Road specification" (invoice on file for their work, together with substantial invoices covering the rest of the restoration). He then clocked up less than 500 miles before selling to a Mr C. Smith who added around 5k miles. It was then purchased by a Mr Mark Wakelin in 2012 from the MG Centre. It featured in 2013 as Car of the Month on the Abingdon Works Centre website.
Mr Wakelin enjoyed the car until he sadly passed away and then the car was stored for some time whilst his estate was settled. It still shows only 11, 800 miles since the restoration. Copiously waxoyled during the restoration, which has preserved the car well.
It is fitted with a Moto Lita steering wheel, stainless exhaust, Kenlowe fan and a matching set of 5 virtually unworn Michelin tyres.
This quintessential 1960's sports car, with Oselli upgraded engine, drives superbly. Recently set up on a rolling road by the noted specialist Spamspeed Motorsport in Gloucestershire, the engine is very flexible, with drivability considerably improved. (The Oselli rocker cover is easily and cheaply replaceable with a standard cover should you wish to retain the original appearance).
