Description
Rover P6B 3500 – Matching Numbers/ Factory PAS
The 3500 was introduced in April 1968 and continued to be offered until 1977. The V8 engine weighed the same as the four-cylinder unit of the Rover 2000 giving the more powerful cars a maximum speed of 114 mph with a 0-60 time of 10. 5-seconds. The P6 3500 V8s are remarkably impressive cars well suited to modern road conditions
At Milestones we are always on the lookout for good P6’s – especially a nice V8, 3500 automatic (in our opinion the ultimate classic motorway cruiser) and we simply could not resist this low ownership (5 keepers) low mileage (50k miles) example that was offered to us only because the owners are emigrating to Corfu.
The large history file (including original Passport to Service & Bill of Sale) indicates that Mr Arthur Wainwright bought his new P6 on 30th December 1974 with the optional factory power steering (additional £110. 25) for the princely sum of £3, 272. 14 and the car remained in his careful ownership for over 30 years.
Today the car presents extremely well – the Almond paint, Huntsman Brown vinyl roof and chrome bumpers/ hub caps are a stunning combination and in outstanding condition. The chassis is excellent with no corrosion under the rear seats/ inner rear door shuts, a notorious weak spot on this model. The interior is equally as impressive with stunning box-pleat leather seats, dash, roof lining & carpets and the extremely rare original rear head restraints are still in place
On the road the car does not disappoint. The gearbox is super smooth, the exhaust notes addictive and factory option power steering making for a very civilised driving experience in extremely comfortable surroundings
This is a stunning car that drives as good as it looks. Undervalued for many years these V8s are now recognised as an outstanding classic car providing performance and comfort in a stylish package. Prices will only increase for good examples and we urge early viewing in order to avoid disappointment.
