HERE is my 1969 Ford Cortina 1600E, the Holy Grail of Mark 2 Cortinas and rarely seen offered for sale now as I think those who are fortunate enough to own one are not to keen on parting with them.
A straight and strong example with only 3 former keepers stated on the V5 and so she has not been around the houses owner-wise which is always a bonus,. Good panels, not to be confused with a classic which has loads of rot and rust. Her main cosmetic issue is that she needs paint mainly to the bonnet, wing tops and the boot. I am led to believe that it's the result of spending of the old girl spending most of the past four years underneath a car cover and paint work tends not to like this with sun, rain etc all going on around her. It's kind of patchy. No rust or rot. Looking around the car, it could be possible that this is the original paint work.
She has been kept MoT'd even though a test is no longer required. The interior is pretty decent. Couple of thin cracks in dash top and the driver's seat has seen better days, although it's just one area of vinyl coming away to the door side of the base. The vinyl roof is in very good order with no lifting underneath. All that said, it's a 1600E with all the Ford goodies.
The carpets have probably been in there for 51 years and so let's not put too much faith in them. However, I had them out today and the floor pans are still excellent.
This must have been one hell of a crackin' example not too many years ago and it's just that the top sections (boot, bonnet and front wing tops) have faded, gone patchy, lacquer lifted whatever. It can be a star again, believe me.
Engine bay is excellent and a real bonus in this instance.
Should you opt to purchase a classic car from me - classic meaning that it will be the equivalent of a motoring antique - then you are accepting that the vehicle will have had faults in the past and that, inevitably, there will be more to deal with in the future. Almost certainly and unless stated otherwise, the vehicle will have undergone some degree of restoration work and, again, it is more than likely it will need more at some stage during its life. I am a one-man enthusiast who enjoys unearthing these old girls and finding new homes for them. Viewing is highly recommended and then you can form your opinion of an aged vehicle just as I will have already formed mine. Modern-day life practically dictates that the majority of classic vehicles - and it is certainly the case with mine - are sold via internet advertising and with the added bonus of digital photographs. Extra and specific photographs will also be available on request. Should you choose to buy without viewing in person then please don't tell me a month later that the horn doesn't work, the full beam is faulty or that you have found some ancient repair of which I knew nothing. My terms therefore are that by buying from me you are accepting that, almost inevitably, classic vehicles will require further remedial work at some stage.
I can also assist with delivery and so please ask for a quote. Martin the details below)
