Description
1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible
This was a highly desirable year and model especially equipped with a J-2 induction system delivering 300 HP according to Oldsmobile, with three 2-barrel carburetors. Richard Petty drove Oldsmobiles in NASCAR stock car races joining the Olds team with his father Lee Petty. Their aim was to win races with Oldsmobile hot J2 engine option; however NASCAR ultimately banned multi-carbureted engines and Olds wound up with only five Grand National wins.
This example shows extremely well both inside and out. A very attractive paint scheme, it is in virtually turnkey condition in every respect. Typically, one cannot represent 63-year-old car as everything working, but in this instance, this would be the case. Powered by a 371 CI J-2 engine with triple carburetors, mated to the Hydramatic automatic transmission. The car is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power convertible top, the Super Deluxe Wonderbar radio (which is working as it should), radio heater and more. The car performs exceptionally well especially considering the size and weight of this cruiser, handling and ride quality is excellent.
