Jawa was founded in Prague in 1929 when industrialist Frantisek Janecek took over the small Wanderer motorcycle factory. They soon made a name for themselves building reliable well engineered and affordable bikes, but it was their racing department that that really made the company famous. Competing against the big names on the racing scene this small company started winning on all the major circuits around the world.
The Jawa DOHC 500 had a bullet proof engine and gearbox, the lightest possible frame and ancillaries to make it one of the most successful speedway motorcycles of its time. The dry weight of this bike was just around the 85. 5 kilograms and a power output of 54bhp that made it ideal for the fast paced accurate handling required in ice racing.
This bike appears to be in excellent condition and if ice racing is not your thing, some minor changes will turn this into a competitive classic speedway or grass track racer. There again you could just leave it as it is and have the fastest lawn aerator in your road or have the ultimate man cave display.
This bike has not been run for some time and will therefore require some recommissioning prior to use.
