Description
An early 4 door car having covered only 41000 miles from new. A 4 owner vehicle the has been with the last owner for almost ten years. We are currently in the process of fully rebuilding 6 Range Rover Classics so do know our way around them!
What makes this car very interesting is its unique look - I have yet to check with the factory heritage department but it has a completely different grille and lower spoiler that I have never seen before and is a very early 4 door so is possibly a prototype/ development car of some description. 5 speed manual gearbox and drives wonderfully.
We bought this as a running, driving car that had very minimal corrosion on the body and was incredibly panel straight. It is completely original underneath and the floors, chassis and full underside of the car have seen absolutely no welding whatsoever which is absolutely remarkable for one of these - we weld every single one we buy without exception! We replaced a third of the front inner side of the wheelarch on the offside front and that was it!
The external panels had the odd light bit of surface corrosion as they are aluminium so obviously don't rot but you do get reactions normally on the bottom of the door edges and below the base of the windows, we decided to remove all the panels including the bonnet and tailagate and have them soda blasted, rust treatment applied and then etch primed before they were painted to ensure no corrosion ever returned.
All the window frames were removed and the doors and all panels stripped of all furniture - handles, locks, all rubbers etc to ensure a quality finish. The upper tailgate (which was also rust free) was painted satin black along with the full frame of the car. All the panel's were painted before being hung back on the frame when we fitted up the car.
All the external trim that could be removed and re powder coated to preserve the originals was - this included the bumpers, numberplate holder, front grille and lamp guards.
The alloy wheels were removed and shot blasted before being re powder coated with a diamond cut rim and 4 new premium tyres fitted.
The vehicle originally had a large triple stripe on the side very similar to the "in vogue" model which goes behind the rear lamp guards, we have not yet fitted the replacement stripe or the rear lamp guards just in case the new customer prefers it without. I would personally leave it on!
New side repeaters have been fitted along with new headlamps, front and rear decals also. The windscreen has also been replaced with a period correct top tinted item as the original had a 2 inch crack in the lower corner above the scuttle.
Underneath the vehicle is lovely as previously mentioned so we have treated it to a very good clean and waxoyld the full underside to preserve for the future.
All of the copper brake and fuel lines have been replaced along with a thorough recommission mechanically which included a new battery, spark plugs, ht leads, all new filters and oil, fuel pump, 4 new shock absorbers, brake hose flexi's front and rear, new brake calipers all round and high performance cross drilled discs and pads
Also comes with all previous MOT’s to verify the mileage.
The interior of this car was what really sold it to me when I bought it . The carpets are in superb condition and the door cards, dashboard and all the tactile surfaces are the best I have ever seen in a Range Rover Classic, this really has been a cherished car in the past. The headlining has been recovered and the cloth on the seats has faded a little although I would personally leave this as it looks beautifully original.
The car will come supplied with a fresh service, recently done by us and also a 12 month MOT . We have a small number of jobs left to do (fit headlamps, stripes, mot, fit lamp guards and a final valet) and she is good to go!
Will make a lovely addition to someones collection (it would be staying in mine if I didn't have so many!)
Export enquiries welcome.
Many thanks for looking
