ClassicClassics are pleased to present this stunning US state Triumph TR6 for sale.
Declared manufactured in 1974 this iconic sports car was bought into the UK over 30 years ago. Spending most of its UK life off the road whilst having lots of little jobs carried out the previous owner acquired the car in 2018 and set about what can only be described as a full restoration to bring it to its amazing standard now.
Works include a full body off chassis refurbishment with every bush, seal and bearing replaced, along with a new braking system. The car was also converted to right hand drive at this time also, making it a much more pleasant driving experience on UK roads. The TR6 also benefits from having a new wiring loom and fuse fitted also. Once the car was ready for the panels to be re fitted each panel was rust proofed and painted prior to being fitted. Once all fitted and complete the car was then subject to a further and final re paint.
Inside the car is like new with a whole new interior including dashboard, seats and carpets and switch gear fitted along with a new vinyl soft top.
Under the bonnet is just as impressive with all new hoses and pipework. The engine also benefits from new Triple Weber 40 DCOE 151 carburettors and inlet manifold. As you would expect this TR6 runs and drives absolutely superb and cannot fail to put a huge smile on your face every time you are behind the wheel.
Built between 1968 and 1976 the TR6 is without doubt one of the most instantly recognisable cars to have come from the classic British manufacturer, Triumph. Designed on the same rigid back-bone chassis of the Michelotti styled TR4 & TR5 the TR6 was the final incarnation of the line and is identified with its more contemporary styling coming from the German coach-builder, Karmann. Of the 91, 850 units built, over 80% of all examples where sold to export markets. All examples where powered by a 2. 5 litre, in-line six cylinder engine; US markets featuring twin-Stromberg Carberettors, with home-market and a small number of export market examples featuring the Lucas fuel-injected variant, which offered a small performance advantage, but poorer fuel economy. Cars came fitted with 4 speed gearbox as standard, with an optional electrically switched Overdrive unit which offered improved gear ratios on second, third and fourth gear on early examples and just third and fourth gears in later models. Other features included disc / drum brakes, independent rear suspension, rack & pinion steering, 15" steel wheels, full instrumentation, luxury pile carpet and satin Teak veneer dash.
