With its false air of a shooting brake, the Z3M Coupé remains a stylistic success in BMW's history. Developed from the roadster, an 'M' version of it was offered, equipped with the M3's brilliant in-line six: a 3. 2-litre engine producing 321bhp and promising 0-100kph in six seconds and a top speed limited to 250kph. The true heart of the car, this engine was one of the finest to come out of the Motorsport department, a racing-style powerplant with six throttle valves and VANOS-type variable valve timing. In all, 6318 cars were built (all versions), with fewer than 2500 going to Europe, over a lifespan of just four years, from 1998 to 2002.
Our Z3 was delivered new in Germany by the Autohaus Spaett near Munich, in September 1998. It joined the collection of our client, a BMW enthusiast, in 2015, and according to him, would have had only four owners. Despite its relatively high mileage, it is in good overall condition. Its mileage is the result of regular use at high speed on the Autobahn, which is still allowed in Germany. Entirely finished in black - with 'Cosmosschwarz Metallic' paintwork and a black leather interior - the car is in its original specification. Among other options, it has heated seats, air-conditioning and a tilting glass sunroof. It has been regularly maintained, as can be seen from the service book with the car and the valuation report from 2017. In particular, the clutch was replaced at 198, 000km and the shock absorbers 2000km earlier. Although it now has nearly 199, 000km on the clock, this Z3 M Coupé is in remarkably well-preserved condition and comes with both sets of keys and all its manuals. A car which can still give its driver a great thrill, it is offered at an irresistibly low estimate.
