Bought in 2016 as a project, The Zephyr was completely dismantled and rebuilt over a period of 3 years. Photographic record of the strip down and rebuild. The bike has covered only 81 miles since the rebuild and is still being run-in. The details of the rebuild is listed below.
• Frame: powder coated, new headstock bearings (greased), top yoke, centre stand and side stand powder coated and fitted with new springs, and fasteners
• Swing arm: powder coated, new bearings (greased)
• Rear suspension: new rear shocks and fasteners.
• Front suspension: forks re-chromed, fork lower legs powder coated along with top and bottom yokes, Hagon progressive springs, new bushes, seals fitted and forks refilled with fresh fork oil.
• Wheels: powder coated, new bearings, new tyres
• Engine: engine stripped and cleaned, rebuilt using new bearings, shells and gaskets, new piston rings, new cam chain valve clearances checked, new oil and oil filter. New sparkplugs and plug leads fitted
• Oil Cooler/ oil pipes: cleaned, painted and refitted using new o rings and fasteners.
• Exhaust: original exhaust cleaned, header pipes painted with high temperature paint and refitted with new gaskets
• Rear brake: master cylinder stripped cleaned and rebuilt, rear calliper stripped, cleaned new pistons, seals, boots, bleed nipples, pads, Hel hose fitted, new rear brake disc.
• Clutch: new EBC clutch fitted along with new clutch cable
• Carburettors: refurbished, original air box retained (excellent condition) with new air filter, new cables fitted, carbs balanced. New inlet rubbers.
• Front brakes: master cylinder stripped cleaned and rebuilt, front callipers stripped, cleaned new pistons, seals, boots, bleed nipples and pads. Goodridge hoses fitted.
• Drive: new chain, new standard size front and rear sprockets. New bearings for sprocket carrier.
• Plastics: original plastics in good condition, no cracks in plastic and all lugs undamaged.
• Seat: bespoke seat cover made and fitted. Original seat base retained.
• Electrics: wiring loom is standard and in excellent condition- everything works (except the fuel level sender unit) quality battery fitted.
• Fuel tank: original tank rusted with pinholes in the base. A second hand tank sourced in rust free condition (has dent).
• General: stainless steel fasteners used extensively. KM/ H to MPH converter fitted to speedo cable. Original 1990’s Baglux tank harness included in the sale.
