- The truck on offer here is this fully restored 1963 Land Rover 88” Series II.
- This truck was fully restored in 2011, has lived in a collection since and remains in near showroom condition.
- The restoration story is very interesting. Restored by Essex boat works in Essex, CT. In order to keep his boat mechanics busy during the off season, the owner set them to work on this truck.
- It received a full photo documented (and cd rom) restoration that is done to a high level, usually reserved for boats. It includes full stainless steel hardware, galvanizing and other effective corrosion resistant materials not usually used on trucks.
- The following was done in 2010-11 and includes but is not limited to the following; New Galvanized steel frame 2. 25 liter gasoline engine (believed to be original) with new water pump, new oil pump, timing gear and valve job and all seals and hoses New brakes, including master cylinder, drums, wheel cylinders and all pipework (2015) New fuel tank and fuel lines Full body restoration including repaint New bulkhead and floor plates New doors, hardware and door cards New tailgate and hardware New suspension including Pro Comp shocks and parabolic springs, tie rods and bushings New engine mounts New Exmore Canvas top New Clutch New exhaust system New exhaust manifold New steering damper Fully engine compartment detail New wheels and tires (2020) Conversion to positive ground and alternator and high torque starter (2018) The truck has traveled approximately 2000 since the work was completed.
- It is well sorted mechanically and needs nothing.
- The Marine blue paint is near perfect, and all panels are straight and true.
- The interior is excellent with Exmoor cushions and shows as near new. The rear seating area is complemented by new seats and a new rubber floor matt; the tan canvas top shows as almost new. The bulkhead and doors were replaced.
- The quality of this truck cannot be overstated; it is better than new both mechanically and cosmetically.
- The 4-speed manual transmission shifts well and the truck drives as designed.
- The 4-wheel drive works as designed and all systems work as they should.
- The speedo shows 81, 500 miles, but only a few thousand on the restoration.
