Description

This Morgan 4/ 4 DHC has been much modified in its lifetime.
It was originally supplied as a rolling chassis with a Standard Special engine to Coventry & Jeffs - a company who made lorry bodies - in 1947. They appear to have made a 'concocted' DHC body - albeit the woodwork was not as craftsmanlike as MMC.
From 1965 to 2003 it was owned by an ex WWII pilot who modified the body to a 4 seater and put in a Triumph Dolomite engine. (subsequently it has had Ford 1500 and 1600 engines). He converted the brakes to hydraulics and fitted a Plus 4 rear axle.
I have refurbished the car to approximately original spec by fitting a Triumph Herald engine/ gearbox, fitted a new chassis, replaced the bulkhead and floors, fitted a new dashboard with reconditioned instruments, and rewired with a correct loom.
As I said above it is not for the purists - but a useable car.
(it was originally registered as NAE 450 but the number was transferred in 2012 and my attempts to get the number back have been unsuccessful. It is shown in John Tiplers 'Morgan -the cars and the factory but wrongly captioned as a 1939 car)
The car is now fitted with a single Solex carb. not twin Strombergs.
