The options in the Circuit Pack include 18in BBS forged alloy wheels wrapped with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, limited-slip differentials for front and rear, sports suspension and red brake calipers.
In order to comply with homologation criteria for the World Rally Championship, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda gave the green light for their high performance division Gazoo Racing to build a production version of the car they intended to compete in WRC.
Built using a bespoke 3 door platform for the Yaris, a wider rear track with double wishbone suspension and four wheel drive were utilised. Weight was saved using aluminium for the front bonnet, boot and door panels while carbon fibre reinforced plastic was used for the roof.
Power is derived from a Gazoo Racing built 1. 6 litre 3 cylinder turbo engine mated to a very gratifying 6 speed manual gearbox.
The end result is a punchy yet extremely usable Japanese hot hatch which on b roads will embarrass most things it finds itself coming up against. It is considered by many as one of the best drivers cars to be born in recent years and has very quickly achieved a cult following.
