Here for sale is my 1992 Honda CR-X del sol ‘VXi’ which I have owned for the last 2 ½ years. This car has been very well maintained up to, as well as through my ownership, with all MOT certificates present as well as key receipts and bills such as the sales/ mileage verification documents from 2005 when the car was imported from Hamamatsu, Japan to the U. K.
Over the course of 30 years and 4 owners (including myself), this car has only covered 48, 000 miles (18, 000 in Japan & 30, 000 in the U. K.). The high quality of the interior, exterior and underbody reflect this light usage. I am more than happy to provide more specific and detailed photos of the car on request.
Although the VXi was the base model del sol sold in Japan, it offers a lot more standard equipment than U. K. VGi models, as well as including the following notable optional extras:
- Transtop electrically operated Targa roof (fully working)
- Body-coloured factory fitted spoiler
- Factory fitted mud flaps and del sol specific floor mats
- Honda ‘Gathers’ expert surround sound system
- Honda ‘Verno’ dealership sticker on the rear bumper as well as a Japanese tax disc on the rear window providing further provenance.
This del sol is completely standard apart from having 17” 5-spoke white wheels with aftermarket Honda centre caps. In addition, an aftermarket Alpine stereo has been fitted by the previous owner to allow Bluetooth pairing and improve the audio quality.
Under my ownership, the car has received a lot of care and attention from myself as well as a highly respected local garage with the following notable work undertaken:
- Rear sail trim seals replaced with genuine Honda clips and seals.
- Front main headlights restored and coated
- Genuine EK-9 chrome oil cap fitted to improve the aesthetics of the engine bay
- Roof seals are maintained with genuine Shin-Etsu grease every 4 months to sustain the life of the roof
- The rear bumper has been repaired and resprayed by a local specialist body shop on 14/ 05/ 21, in addition, a new rear fog light has been installed.
- New clutch fitted (including the master, slave & gaiters) and gearbox oil replacement on 22/ 06/ 21.
- New rear trailing arm bushes and oil & filter changed recently on 01/ 11/ 21
I have also tried to get the air conditioning system reconditioned by the same local garage. However, I have been informed that the gas used in Japan is no longer available in the U. K., so the system would need to be upgraded accordingly in order to operate fully.
