Amazing. The last of the true naturally aspirated hot hatches!
Up for sale here is my fantastic little Saxo VTR. The car is an absolute gem of a find considering how many of these little Citroens have been (in my opinion), ruined with nasty modifications, or gutted and turned into track cars. This is a truly original VTR.
Mechanically the car is superb. There’s no knocking or rattles throughout. The interior trim is even quieter than my 2017 DS3! There are no electrical niggles whatsoever. It starts first time, every time in all winds and weather and has been a fab modern classic hot hatch to blast around the local B-roads on a sunny weekend afternoon.
Recent work includes:
- New aluminium radiator
- New starter motor
- Full body inspection and any rot removed

- Sunroof refurb
- Full service (oil is still golden!)
Incredibly, all the previous work (even oil top-up purchases!) are included in a massive ring binder of history dating right back to the car’s first services in 2004. The entire timeline of the car is all here.
The physical condition of this little Saxo is really mint. The Arctic Steel silver paint has a beautiful shine and has limited swirl marks for a car of this age, meaning the paint really pops on sunny days. The seats were fitted by the previous owner from a 2002 VTS (very rare option!), and are remarkably comfortable, yet body-hugging. They have no tears or damage and pair excellently with the exterior colour of the car. The interior plastics are not brittle or aged from any sun exposure and the carpet was recently lifted out for a full wet vac. The stunning VTS wheels look superb on the Saxo and are paired with 4x Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, with lots of tread left, resulting in the absolute best handling experience possible from one of these French rockets!
With regards to rust and corrosion, all the areas that tend to rot on Saxos are completely solid on this car. The inner arches are good, as is the bulkhead area around the fuse box. A sign of a well looked after Saxo. In addition, the sunroof has been completely resealed and is still fully operational, unlike some examples which see the sunroof just glued in place as a quick fix. This means you can still get that roof open experience (and hear the 1. 6 TU5 engine roar!). The sills, arches and bootfloor are also all flawless. Even the battery tray is perfect!
However, as this is a particularly outstanding example, I do feel it’s best to note a couple of small imperfections with the car. There has been a smart repair on the NS front bumper which can be noted on close inspection. Also there are a couple of small shopping trolley dings (no paint damage), but only noticed when looking really closely. It's not concourse.

I am only selling the car as due to a change in circumstances, I will no longer be able to afford to run 2 classic French cars. As much of a driving hoot this Saxo VTR is, my Peugeot 205 has to take priority as it has a lot of sentimental value to me, so unfortunately, the little Citroen has to find its next home.
This is a genuinely lovely car to be loved and appreciated for what it is, notably being perfect for summer b-road blasts with the windows rolled down, sunroof open and some early 00s tunes on the stereo.
I’ll definitely miss the abundance of comments and compliments it gets at petrol stations!
