Description
This very straight and desireable 5. 3 V12 Convertible XJS was one of six Jags collected by its owner as part of a small private collection. Unfortunately due to a major change in personal circumstances, it's now offered here for sale and represents very good value on today's market.
Interior wise it is in great condition, no nasty damage anywhere, just some slight staining on the roof lining caused from standing, should clean though. It's leather interior is very good, as are the dash, switch gear, carpets etc. It's original stereo is in place with the original electric aireal, both of which work. Rarely the on-board trip computer even works. The only electrical item that does not work is the l/ h window but the wipers do only work on fast. The roof was 100% working but the handbrake warning light was on all the time, found a wire disconnected on the switch which has cured the light problem but now the roof has stopped so it must need a new switch, hence why it had been disconnected you would assume. Condition wise the roof is excellent.
Body is very straight with hardly a dent to be found, bottoms of the doors, sills, inner wings, all the 0laces you will normally find rust are all very good. The rear panels below the rear bumper had been replaced when he bought it and needed to be painted, unfortunately while the paint finish itself is very good, over time it is noticeably off colour to the rest of the car.
Mechanically, having had a new set of plugs and leads it starts easily ( will need a new battery as it goes flat after a few days) no nasty noises etc from the engine, there is a blow on the r/ h exhaust from where the exhaust caught a sleeping policemen and has bent a flange, this will need to be attended to prior to mot. On the road it pulls cleanly with smooth gear changes and no warning lights are displayed. There were no signs of any overheating with the interior heating working well . The tracking is out on the steering and will need doing as it would be a shame to damage the good tyres that are fitted all round on nice condition alloys. Brakes work well.
So there you have it, with 30k plus prices for mint low mileage examples this car represents an opportunity to own a superb Jaguar Xjs at a very sensible price, do a couple of bits and use as is or restore to a higher level the choice is yours?
