MG D Type 1932 – PO 5982
Only 250 MG D-Types were built between 1931 and 1932. Based on the chassis of the C Type (competition), and the same 847cc engine as the earlier M Type Midget.

PO 5982 was the Ninth D-type to be built (Chassis Number: D0259 - Numbers started at 251), with a copy of the original purchase receipt from a dealer in Littlehampton on 11th July 1932. Engine also original; 514AD
PO 5982 was purchased as a restoration project on 22. 6. 1990 by a previous owner (original receipt) and underwent a complete re-build between 1990 – 1992, with photographic documentation / catalogue and receipts amounting to thousands. The works were a full and extensive nut and bolt restoration. DVLA then registered PO 5982 on 1st May 1992, with a declared manufacture date of 1932.
There is a significant history file (previous owners etc) and extensive service history since,. Original MOT certificates for consecutive years from 1992 – 2003, and original tax discs for consecutive years from 1992 – 2004.

Further extensive service receipts running from 1995 – 2004, when the previous owner acquired the car as part of a private collection.
PO 5982 was then purchased privately by us in June 2021 due to a mutual contact / mechanic who was working on PO 5982. The car is now being sold due to lack of use and is in excellent condition, has been extremely well looked after and is driving very well. A new rear diff (original part) was fitted in August 2021. There’s some minor cosmetic touches which could be sorted by a new owner – minor paint flaking in a few locations, and a windscreen glass repair. Otherwise it is immaculate and very original.
