Bmw 7 Series 750i swb shadowline e38 750
Hi,
This is the normal wheel base (swb) V12 e38 1997 and a complete joy to own and drive. I have owned this car for 10 years and I love it.
Biarritz blue with contrasting champagne leather and M-Parallells- doesnt get any better than that!
It has only done around 109000 miles documented.
It has nevertheless has no expense spared on it.
Even done all this work to it but still not got around to doing a machine polish or taken and decent photos!!
It is a unique experience having a v12 in what is now a medium sized car. Its rock steady stable at very high speeds when tested and is actually very dangerously fast when pushed and handles better than any s class I've driven. Cannot find anything to replace this.
I am an experienced automotive design engineer and have rebuilt the front end of the engine with original new parts, using stainless bolts and fixings where they do not require steel load bearing fasteners.
This was done because the air con pump seized and the belt snapped while pulling into my street after a brief shriek.
Rather than simply change the belt, I realised some of the rubber pipes and steel parts were past their best. Changed the air con pump, alternator, complete radiator pack and air con radiator, tensioners plugs etc etc too much to mention right now. Even used the original spec o rings for the air con pipes when refitting.
Coolant pipes renewed with original parts
Blasted and hammerite coat on main steel coolant pipe on the front of the engine as they are always rusted on every e38 v12 I've seen.
Headlight glass polished inside and out.
New indicators
New intake flexis
Gearbox fluid changed with correct spec
Gearbox filter and seal
Diff oil changed
New Bosch battery
New power steering fluid
New air con pump fluids and gasses
Was going to clean and re-spray the front and rear subframe for increased longevity but work has just got too busy and I just cant get the time.
This took months as and when I could get the correct part and do it properly - did not rush any stage.
Then changed the entire front suspension arms and rods etc as the rubber mounts were tired. This was done professionally by someone who specialises in suspension parts and changes them all day every day. So it was done perfectly.
