A very rare opportunity to buy a road-registered Dnepr (Ural / Cossack) two-wheel-drive sidecar outfit with reverse gear.
Dnepr MT12, K750, Two-Wheel-Drive sidecar outfit with reverse gear. In oily rag / genuine ‘barn find’ condition after being unused for several years.
It was originally built in the Ukraine near Kiev in a factory on the banks of the Dnieper river during the Soviet era.
First registered in 1978, it is MOT exempt and benefits from free road tax. With original hand written Soviet registration documents and UK V5, it starts, rides, charges and is on the road.
It has a flat twin 750cc side-valve engine which is best described as agricultural. It sounds lovely, is easy to start, is relatively smooth, but rather slow. Not surprising really because it’s roughly based on a Second World War era BMW engine. It supposedly boasts 24 - 26bhp, but I don’t believe it.
Unlike the vast majority of these machines that you might find on offer at a similar price (which are generally recent unregistered imports) this one is U. K. registered. Registering a 2WD outfit with a right-hand sidecar is not straightforward if considering a recent import!
It comes with a copy of the owners manual, copies of other technical articles and several copies of the fascinating owners club magazines. All parts are readily available with wonderfully supportive suppliers and an active owners club.
Although originally intending to restore it, a recent move forces a reluctant sale.
It is original and unrestored. As above, I would describe it as in ‘oily rag’ condition. It is useable, but would certainly benefit from a little work, particularly if you would like to use it as daily transport.
A genuine head turner. I can send videos of the bike running and being ridden.
