Description
A fabulous barn fine wooden child's bicycle made by the French Company Eureka who made children's bicycles, scooters and pedal cars. Found in a loft of a house in Manchester Square- London about 30 years ago. Sadly the spokes are long gone, but the rims are sound and can be used again, but the hubs appear to be made of a rubber type material, so some period replacements would need to be found. The wood on the frame is very sound apart from one point where it has a knot in the wood where it is a little fragile. The bicycle is jointed by steel plates with a tiny sprung saddle and a bell on the narrow wooden handlebars. The whole bicycle is a really lovely thing. With some careful restoration, it could be bought back to life again, or keep it as it is and just admire it. It dates from about the early 1920's and was sold by Eureka as the 'Bicyclette D'Tude Eureka'.
