1971 Land Rover series 2A 88” 2. 25 petrol ** Older full restoration**
First registered 17/ 02/ 1971 and 9 owners from new.
Era classics are pleased to offer this cool matt green Series 2A that I have sold once before.
Older restoration (approx 10 years ago) but extensive work completed including:
New Galvanised chassis and galvanised bulk head
Galvanised Windscreen surround
New Wiring loom and fuel tank
Full engine rebuild
New drums, brake lines, shoes and master and wheel cylinders all round
Fully repainted in flat matt green
New canvas top
4 new tyres and powder coated wheels in black
Seat box has had new side panels and the rear tub has had new back panels
New front head lights and galvanised front grill panel
New front bumper and 3 new seats and seat belts x3
Refurbished radiator and new clutch
Reconditioned fairey overdrive unit
Garaged since restoration
This lovely 2A has been slightly modified but in a subtle way.
It’s the end of the era, cross over year (lights in the wings) and front grill should be the Maltese cross style (no lights) but has been replaced with a grill so the additional lights fit in. Appears that the wing with the hole is a replacement as its heater is inside which is correct for that year. Narrow sills are original and also correct for that year. Would be simple to reinstate it back to more of an original look but currently has a nice subtle point of difference.
The paint is in great condition and all panels are really straight and is a really nice flat matt green, more military style but it really sets this LR apart. One or two small paint chips and scratches but hardly noticeable.
It’s a rock solid LR that has had a lot of expenditure to bring it up to the condition it is today.
It drives well and all gears select easily. Decent engine power and recon Fairey overdrive just gives the LR that extra pace and refinement for those slightly longer journeys.
This is a reliable daily driver that has had all of the expense and time and effort poured into it by someone else so you don’t have to!
Standard springs have recently been switched to all parabolics for a more compliant ride and it has just had a full service including all fluids, new rear hub seal, rear diff pinion seal and both track rod ends.
It’s a lovely LR that really is a nice place to be and with the added reliability factor and the solid nature of the restoration will be a good long term fun classic investment.
Tax and MOT exempt but MOT valid until 26th April 2023.
Unverified mileage. Recent new speedo changed at 25, 145 miles and is now showing 1807 miles. Original speedo is still with the LR.
