Not to everybody's taste, but very much interchangeable should the next owner prefer a more under stated look. VFF 997 began life in the US, it was manufactured in 1953 and spent its first 42 years across the Atlantic before being imported to the UK in 1995. In 2001, the recent owner purchased the XK, in RHD format as a good usable example and over the last 21 years has spent in the region of £75, 000 keeping the car in top mechanical order and looking very well presented. Engine rebuilds are documented in 2003 and over 2018/ 2019, in 2009 the rear axle was completely stripped, the casing shot blasted and then reassembled with new differential gears and new 3. 54 crown wheel and pinion plus new half shafts. Regular servicing is documented, brakes have been overhauled, as has the steering system and various works carried out to the electrical system, fuel and cooling systems as expected with such regular use. The result of this expenditure is an incredibly well sorted, excellent driving car that could set off to Europe tomorrow.
Cosmetic work includes new wheels, £7500 of work with Suffolk and Turley to include a full re-trim to include a new mohair hood in 2006, various bodywork and paintwork plus re-chroming to keep the car looking incredibly sharp, and good attention to detail can be seen under the bonnet and to the underside of the car.
