MEET The Gnu. Do you remember the Gnu song? Well you will have to be of a certain age like me to recall that on the "wireless" back in the day as sung by Flanders and Swann. Anyway, thanks to her registration, here is the Gnu! This is the second time I owned this old girl, the first being something like four years ago. And she is a gem of a classic. These original Austin and Morris 1800s have become a genuine rarity having been such a common site in the 60s and 70s. It is easy to forget just how well these cars drive and just how well the big sister of the 1100/ 1300 range feels on the road. Mega comfort is the key here, great torque (which is why so many families towed caravans with them if you recall) and of course tried and trusted Hydrogas suspension. It was a great combo back in the day and that mixture still stands up now as you will discover if you are ever fortunate enough to find yourself behind the wheel of one of these BMC beauties!
This delightful example in Whitehall Beige is more like a milky coffee colour to my eye. Sorry, should that be latte? I get hopelessly confused with coffee these days! She is in super nick, save a few inevitable paint imperfections here and there, really solid and comes with a super duper 1970 interior. Stunning seats and period dashboard.
Take a good look around - as I am sure many of you will - in your quest to compare condition and pricing on these luscious Landcrabs, but good luck with that. They are rarely seen in today's classic car marketplace.

Such are the joys of owning an antique vehicle and they must be taken within their own context and not compared to modern day cars. They are sold as old, mainly out-dated machines and come without any comeback whatsoever. They are my terms and conditions.
My classic cars are motoring antiques. This car, for example, is 53-years-old and is unrestored. It's not two, five or even ten-years-old as your own everyday car may be. It has been in service for more than half a century and so will have quirks and faults in there somewhere. However, faults on these old girls are not always apparent when buying and selling classics which is what I do. I do not restore them, nor do I pretend that they are concours cars. The majority of them go out as they came in, and I continue to enjoy finding more - a skill which is becoming increasingly difficult as many of you will be aware. They deserve to be taken on as "family pets" and cared for through thick and then. They don't make them any more and demand now out-strips supply.
