When I bought this car last year, it was mechanically sound, but the paintwork and interior really let it down. As can be seen from the photos, all of this has now been rectified, and the car is ready to use daily and/ or show.
The car drives really well and has a sturdy feel to it, and unlike the early DAF models, the 66 is surprisingly roomy inside.
There are no problems with the Variomatic transmission, which has had work done to it in recent times. The Renault engine is in really good mid-life condition, and I believe it has had a DAF Marathon head and camshaft fitted to it at some time. The chassis has had minor repairs done to it, but is basically sound.
The speedometer reads 58, 000 miles, which would seem in keeping with the car’s condition.
I had hoped to use the car for the summer, but I’ve found another project and need the space to get started.
