1780cc Engine with Twin SU Carbs and Overdrive. Extensive service history, receipts and original RF60 log book.
The interior of the car is exceptional and has been upgraded and improved without taking anything away from its 1960’s original look.
Externally the car is not a show car and will need bodywork and paint. However the car is presentable and usable as is, and certainly would not embarrass itself at any local car events this summer season.
The Volvo Amazon was introduced to the world in 1956. Named after the female warriors in Greek mythology, it is still one of the most iconic models in Volvo’s history.
With its elegant, timeless styling the Amazon broke new ground for Volvo differing greatly from the common perception of what a Volvo should look like.
In 1958 the 122S (S for Sports) was introduced, with more power and a much wanted four-speed gearbox making the car very attractive in the public eye. Known as the Amazon in Sweden and the 121 and 122S in export market.
Despite its substantial appearance, it was one of the sportiest European saloons of the 1960s. Volvo’s factory driver, Carl-Magnus Skogh, won the 1965 Acropolis Rally in Greece driving a 122S.
The man responsible for the design was 26-year-old Jan Wilsgaard, who went on to become Volvo’s head of design for many years.
** The cars I sell are generally 30 to 70 years old & should not be compared to modern cars.
Unless advertised as Concours (a show vehicle in pristine condition) there may be imperfections, blemishes & age related wear & tear in there somewhere.
Owning a classic car is a hobby like any other, you will spend time & money in ongoing care & maintenance.
Please bare this in mind when considering buying a classic car.
