The G29 generation Z4 M40i is a proper hidden gem. BMW’s range topping M40i is quite the wolf dressed in evening attire – an elegant roadster with nearly bang-on 50:50 weight distribution, producing 335bhp, returning 0-60 times of around 4. 5 seconds and delivering a whopping 500Nm of torque from the 3. 0i turbo-charged B58 six-cylinder power plant – all pushed through ZF’s fabulous 8-speed auto box (found in everything from 2 series race cars to X5s). Lighter, better engineered, and a vastly better drive than its predecessors, the latest generation of Z4s finally shows what BMW can do with a roadster when they put their mind to it – just ask Toyota, who have shared the basic platform to produce the acclaimed new Supra.
