1946 Rover 14 Sports Saloon
Chassis number: 6330072
Registration Number: CCL428
This is a very special old Rover built immediately post war & in wonderfully preserved condition. Its history from new is fully documented & listed below.
This is a very very stylish car finished in an appealing & period shade of grey with the paint in very good condition having been resprayed to a high quality. To the interior are original seats in blue hide with light patination. New carpets have been made & fitted fore & aft. The car has a large sunroof for summer motoring. As a whole the car could have stepped right out of a James Herriot episode.
The car comes with a good history file dating back to the 1990's. Clearly it has been very well cared for. It sits on a set of painted wire wheels shod with good blockley tyres, but also comes with a set of pressed steel wheels. These Rovers were superb quality cars & make a great alternative to similar Derby Built Bentleys & Rolls Royces.
The car is in strong mechanical condition driving well & is a pleasure to be in. There is a large boot with a fold down boot lid allowing for a good quantity of luggage to be carried. This is a rare survivor & one is not likely to encounter another at car shows or on the road. It has beeen enthusiast owned & this is very evident in the condition of the car.
Sold through Mann Egerton in Norwich in 1946, where the first owner kept it for 12 years until 1958 by which time it had done 62, 963 miles.
The second and third owners kept it for another 30 years until 1988 by which time it had clocked up 118, 935 miles including a recon engine in 1967.
Ray Kitcher bought the car in 1988 and carried out further restoration over the following years. The car passed to his son Paul Kitcher in 2012 by which time the mileometer read 133, 490.
Mike Wheadon bought the car in 2019 and used it for 3, 500 miles on various trips and VSCC events throughout Britain.
Purchased by the current owner as a fantastic example of ‘One of Britain’s Fine Cars’ he now has to be sensible and keep the collection numbers manageable with the onset of old age.
