This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The NEC Classic Motor Show Sale 2023 - Cars on Saturday the 11th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. By 1998, and with Aston Martin’s future secured by the success of the DB7, the intention to create an all-new Aston Martin 'supercar' for the 21st century was launched under the codename Project Vantage. It aimed to continue the Aston tradition of brutish good looks and blistering performance whilst showcasing the direction that Aston was taking. Penned by Ian Callum and drawing inspiration from the DB4 Zagato, the concept car's aggressive stance evolved directly into the V12 Vanquish. It featured an advanced carbon fibre and alloy structure whilst Aston Martin's most powerful V12 engine to date propelled the car from 0-60mph in under five seconds. Only available with a 6-speed automated manual transmission, the interior, whilst still trimmed in the finest leather, saw the wood veneers replaced with brushed aluminium. The Vanquish was Aston’s flagship between 2001 and 2007 and was the last model to be produced at the Newport Pagnell Works.
The Vanquish was built in two versions: two-seater and 2+2. A pleasing blend of up-to-the-minute technology and traditional materials, the interior was dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console while also featuring Connolly leather upholstery and Wilton carpeting, emphasising the Aston Martin heritage, for despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it: one at a time and by hand. Like many of its illustrious brethren, the Vanquish enjoys the distinction of being a James Bond Aston Martin, featuring in the 2001 film Die Another Day starring Pierce Brosnan as 007.
This early, two-seater Vanquish carries the distinctive chassis number ending '007' and is the seventh of seven UK Press Cars used for promoting the film alongside Pierce Brosnan. Registered Y835 YML, this very special Vanquish was first owned by Aston Martin's then Chief Executive, Dr Ulrich Bez. A beautiful example of the first Vanquish produced and a true collectors' item, it features 'Power Park' mirrors; heated front seats, aluminium/ leather steering wheel; heated front screen; satellite navigation; telephone integral system and a fire extinguisher.
Finished in Skye Silver with Chestnut Nubuck interior, the car comes complete with owners/ service book, main dealer service history, MOT to March 2024, two keys, Aston Martin Build Log and Aston Martin paperwork confirming it's Press Car provenance. Since purchase by our vendor, the purveyor of one of the most important historic and modern collection of James Bond-related vehicles, our vendor has spared no expense with a programme of cosmetic refreshment and mechanical works by Aston Martin Works.
