Fully restored 1970 Datsun 240Z.
This vehicle was subject to a full bare metal / rotisserie restoration in 2016 which
was performed with no expense spared. The aim of this restoration was to maintain
the totally original specification of the car, which can be seen by the photographic
evidence.
Originally an Australian RHD car imported to the UK in 2015. Australian history is
complete with many invoices and pictures of the car in Australia.
Fourways carried out the initial appraisal on the car in December 2015 and it was
decided that because the car was so original it would be better to carry a
sympathetic restoration rather than simply replacing everything with new parts.
The car was Soda blasted to full bare metal to ascertain the quality of the shell and
identify accidental damage or corrosion prior to painting.
Once the body had been stripped it became evident that the metalwork was highly
original with virtually no corrosion, with the only exception being the two chassis rails
which were rusty. Two new chassis rails were fabricated, and the car was primed
and painted. All of the mechanical items were restored, and the engine only needed
cosmetic enhancements.
The restoration was fully documented, and the vehicle comes with a leather binder
which includes many old Australian receipts, all the receipts for the build as well as
full photographic evidence of the restoration along with much further history.
This vehicle must be one of the finest in existence and should be viewed to be fully
appreciated.
