Description

The Classic Car Company presents this incredibly rare Datsun 240z reimagined by renowned Datsun specialists MZR, in the top specification ‘Evolution’. Finished in Space Silver over Tan leather, this special order commission is 1 of 15 and has been meticulously rebuilt over three years, featuring full carbon-fibre bodywork. Beneath, the car features a sonorous RB30 straight-six engine, bored and stroked to 3, 400cc and producing 360 bhp. With only 2, 000 miles since its build, this unique example is barely run-in and ready for its next owner!

This Datsun restomod by MZR is quite unlike anything we have seen before! Capturing the magic of the original, the car has been meticulously reworked, leaving no stone unturned in the pursuit of the perfect 240Z! MZR’s builds have been exceptionally well reviewed by every publication they have reached. With many restomods often beginning with a price tag well in excess of £400, 000, this presents exceptional value and a fantastic opportunity to own a beautifully engineered Datsun Restomod!

Looking under the bonnet, you find a beautiful, uncluttered RB30 straight-six nestled in its engine bay. You cast your eye over the line of Jenvey throttle bodies and the sculpted weave of crinkled stainless steel exhaust manifolds, poised for starting. With a simple box radiator up front, the artistic simplicity seems somewhat out of sorts in an engine bay, but showcases the quality of the engineering.

With a full Carbon fibre body, the door handle is reassuringly metallic and cold to the touch, with the carbon-skinned door having a comforting weight to it. You dip into the soft leather-clad carbon bucket seats, feeling supportive and comfortable. The cabin is spacious and beautifully presented. You observe the sumptuous two-tone leather dashboard, being soft to the touch. You grasp the Nappa leather steering wheel, appropriately dished, noting the Momo insignia etched into the metalwork. You slot the keys into the mechanical chrome slot behind the wheel, and with a quick twist, the engine fires into life. With art meeting technology, the RB30 is custom-made, idling characterfully, tuned for higher RPMs.

You select first gear with the luxurious dark wooden gear lever and are surprised by how easy the car is to find the biting point and move off. The steering weight is nigh on perfect, being very communicative as you start to move off down the road. The brakes are unassisted but approachable, being easy to modulate. The pedal box is excellent for heel and toe, and the driving position is low and well positioned. You can feel the motorsport-derived componentry, being direct and well set up.

You're now on the open road, and the natural sense of connection you have with the car is confidence-inspiring and engaging. With a push of the throttle, the engine sings up to 7, 100 rpm, the twin-tipped exhaust beating your eardrums to the tune of six cylinders. You select the next gear on the sharp and positive gearbox. The car flows through the twists and turns, the suspension set-up giving you the support you need. With each flick of the wheel, the car feels light and responds instantly with great agility. The noise is thrilling, and the experience, some form of narcotic. You slowly come off the throttle and start to wind the car down, the exhaust popping and crackling. You find a place to stop; you observe the lines of the crafted exterior, giving hints of the Ferrari 275 GTB and Jaguar E-Type. It’s no wonder these cars were so adored back in the day.

Now upgraded and perfected, this 240z gives an experience unlike anything else on the road. With only 2, 000 miles completed, this car presents an exceptional opportunity to collect a unique, on-the-button car with great presence, ready to be enjoyed.
