Description
THE SUN came out today and so too did my 1966 Triumph Spitfire Mark II. Only the original Spitfire - re-named the Spitfire 4 once the Mark II had been launched - and its immediate successor carried the original Michelotti design. Hence you see the neat little radiator grille which was done away with for the later Mark 3 (thanks to US legislation on bumper height!).
So here is a speedy little Spit II with its proper spec 1147cc twin-carb engine. It is very much Italian styling coupled with British sports car engineering. This lovely old girl is rock solid and comes with a current MoT (no advisories) until September 2025. She retains her original bucket-style sports car seats which is super to see as so many early Spitfires have been fitted with the much later and less appealing seats from the 1500!
Her current MoT and her unmolested appearance more than make up for the fact that paintwork is presentable if not perfect. But please do not confuse this example with any rotten versions. It's a little beauty. The current hood is serviceable but there is a bonus in the boot in the form of a brand new Mark II hood, yet to be unfolded! There is also a full length tonneau cover.
All in all, a delightful early Spitfire and you will struggle to find better at my price.
