According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust, this truly excellent overdrive example of the ever-popular Triumph Stag was built in November 1972, and first registered on 1st February 1973. The car has been in the same ownership for the last 12 years and although it was in good order when purchased, the current owner has gone to a lot of expense to improve and maintain to an exceptional standard. As far as we can see, everything about the car is in really first class condition and it would be a true pleasure for anyone to own. The spotless bodywork, which appears to be totally original (apart from a complete repaint in Maple, in recent years), boasts an excellent panel fit all round. The underside of the car is pretty much like new, and not caked up in underseal, as you can see from the photographs. The interior, which was renewed by Aldridge Trimming Ltd in 2014 is just as you would want it to be, and to the original specification. A great feature of this car is that it retains an original Triumph V8 engine, which together with its ancillaries, has been improved by the current owner - namely the uplift in power by the fitting of a Webber carburettor which gives terrific engine performance, with, of course, that iconic V8 sound. The list of improvements to the car is as long as your arm, but essentially, has included work to the suspension, gearbox, engine, brakes and steering – far too much to list here. The quality mohair hood is easy to put up and fits well. The wheels and tyres are in fine fettle. In fact, we would describe this car as ‘good as new’ and actually better in some areas. The paperwork includes Heritage Certificate, V5C, original Triumph Handbook and a large file of invoices dating back to 2013. MOT to 8th April 2026 (no advisories), speedo reads 74, 500 miles. This is the best Stag we have had and the most enjoyable to drive, so don’t miss it!!
