Description
The Triumph GT6 MK3 was launched in 1970 with a new “Michelotti” designed body and styling similar to the MK1V Spitfire. Better aerodynamics and 105bhp allowed a top speed of 112mph making it significantly quicker than the MGB.
This car is a 1972 GT6 MK3 in its original colour of white with a dark blue interior and overdrive gearbox. It was restored in the 90’s including an engine rebuild and has covered just 22, 000 miles since then.
More recently it has benefitted from substantial expenditure - a long list of replacement parts have been fitted; too much to list but including new fuel pump and lines, new timing chain and sprockets, brake overhaul with all new lines and pipes, radiator and alternator. The running gear has all been has been stripped, re-painted and poly-bushed and a “Jigsaw Racing” CV driveshaft conversion fitted, new road springs and AVO rear shock absorbers fitted and the carburettors rebuilt.
In addition, the underside has been stripped, epoxy coated and re-painted in body colour with a light coating of protective wax covering the underside and under-bonnet. The interior has been replaced with re-built seats with leather covers, new “Park Lane” door cards and vinyl kit, TSCC carpet set and “Mota-Lita” wheel. The floors have been lined with “Silent Coat” sound deadening with additional “Dodo” cell foam on top and the bumpers “triple chromed”.
There are also some minor but useful performance enhancements – a reworked inlet manifold, up-rated coil and electronic distributor, larger exhaust tail section and “K and N” filters.
The history file contains a large amount of bills and much of the recent work is documented with photos.
On the road, this GT6 is definitely a sum of its parts; tight, well sorted and with perhaps a little more go than a standard car and a pleasing sound!
We have just carried out a minor re-commissioning after a period of little use and it’s now ready for a new owner.
We’ve sold several GT6’s and they are always popular. This one is not a “concours” car - there are one or two very minor imperfections but it strikes the right balance; a sharp looking and driving car that has had all the money spent on it.
Clearly superb value!
